I don't think this is purely genetic selection. I'm seeing environmental effects have a heavy impact. Cities in particular are population sinks. They'll increase liberalism while the crushing contention squeezes out opportunities to reproduce. This also includes social standards in cities.

I think you'll find the genetic component to be somewhat more moderate than you might anticipate. There really isn't much of a genetic fix to overcome overwhelming contention or localised overpopulation.
