I don't doubt it's a similar percentage for the US. The elites seem to want a wage slave class for their usage as well as any politically needed class warfare. People on the brink are easier to control at least until they get hungry, that's when things get nasty.

The lack of financial education in schools is appalling, but come to think about it I don't know if I have heard of any country that pushes for it, which is pretty telling in itself of how governments "care" for their citizens well being.
