I hate to tell you this but the world has always been massively fucked up in this way. More children were being raped and abused 200 years ago than there are now. In China they were selling their own unwanted children to strangers in open slave markets as late as the 1950s. In Saudi Arabia it was legal to own slaves until about 1960. just imagine the sexual abuse of minors in those situations. I could go on and on with examples of barbarity and extreme cruelty that people have experienced throughout history that would boggle the mind. You need historical perspective and to remember the verse: There is nothing new under the sun.
This shit has existed in much worse quantities long before we came into this world. If you want to believe life's a Disney fairy tale then you're fucked, but in the real world life has generally improved with every passing generation for the last hundred or so years compared to what existed before.
