Lots of negative comments about immigrants here. Kind of disheartening. It’s not hard to understand the huge difference between a boarder jumper and someone who wants to be here. We need secure boarders and we need better vetting. But to completely end all immigration is asinine.

My parents immigrated in 1978 and I don’t know any brighter shining example that the American Dream still exists with what they achieved. More so than anyone I know who have family lineage for several generations here.

You might be one of the based one, but you are looking at a sample size of one or a few people. Not in the 10s of millions. The vast majority of migrants come to the US for economic reasons, not for core US values. This is why the US turns into the shithole they came from.

For many people the American Dream is getting rich, but this country wasn't founded on getting rich and making money.

I should add, the country is very different now vs the 1970s. Nowadays migrants don't have to bother learning the history, language, or culture, they can just stay within their own groups and never venture beyond that. Integration is not required today, in the 70s you likely had to in order to get by.
