Get your attention? Good! Let's start a private business and under bid Dominion and the others on state and federal contracts.
Software will be open source, security software will be separate and private. All votes are printed on a receipt that the voter inspects, signs, and drops into a locked ballot box themselves. If it's possible, each machine has a camera like an ATM with timestamps. Each vote is timestamped.
We can't just bitch and moan about Dominion and corrupt officials. Hell, when we make a bid on a contract, we should make the bid public after it is awarded so if we make the low bid but aren't chosen, people know. Guys, I'm trying. I don't know what else to do to steer us away from the third box. None of us want it, but Chairman Joe is pushing.
When the voting software is released for the public to see, it should be simple and elegant. No processes or abilities for votes to be changed or adjudicated. If you, the voter, fuck your ballot up, that's on you. It shouldn't be up to anyone to interpret what you meant to vote for.
I'm crazy about this country. I love the united States. But Joe just said "No amendment to the constitution is absolute." That is untrue. It angers me. The amendments are limitations on the government, not the people. "Shall not be infringed" is very clear.
Voting machines aren't going away. We need to ensure the machines are fair, and the only way to do that is to make them ourselves. Program them ourselves. Write the code ourselves.
But I don't know where to start, nor can this happen with just one person. If anyone wants to do this, let's get the discussion going.
The Scots fought the British knowing they would lose and their way of life would be destroyed. We have to go out swinging, even when it is hopeless.
In the words of Craig Robinson, "One last time... TAKE YO' PANTIES OFF!"
This is an interesting idea.
Perhaps find a struggling company who has production facilities but makes a product that has declining demand. A process that could be retooled for voting machines.
