It's not just Amazon - you should be striving to buy things that AREN'T from China. Things from Taiwan are a good alternative. Taiwan needs all the help it can get.
Acer is another Taiwanese brand that is good quality, have laptops and a desktop from them, quite happy. They also (since 2007) own Gateway and (now-discontinued) eMachines computer brands.
Win10 should be replaced with Linux if the user doesn't need Windows-specific software and is reasonably capable with a computer (to initially set it up).

For computers, ASUS is a Taiwanese brand, and pretty solid. Granted, you'll have to deal with Windows 10, but there are ways to muzzle it.
