This is a small recount, only around 10,000 votes and four tabulation machines. There could be something very explainable in what happened. But the results of this could lead to further audits throughout the state.
The terrifying part of this one is, they only discovered it because of the mandatory hand recount. Otherwise, they would have accepted the machine's tabulation totals as fact. You know, like the rest of the precincts in the state. Either get rid of the machines, or use the machines for election night, and do a full hand count immediately after they leave the machines and double check that stuff. Too much reliance and trust in machines has opened the door to low-integrity voting systems.
