They did treat him like a human being. A criminal human being who told them he "ate too many drugs" and was high as a kite. Have you seen the video of Floyd in the convenience store? Did you hear the testimony of the convenience store employee? Did you hear Floyd's drug dealer plead the 5th to avoid self-incrimination of 3rd degree murder by drug overdose?
George Floyd OD'ed and died in police custody. Had he not just passed a counterfeit $20 bill while high as a kite, perhaps the police would have responded to his overdose differently. Unfortunately, you have to face reality: George Floyd was a criminal and drug addict who died in police custody due to his own actions and decisions.
You don't not restrain a criminal with a record while he's resisting arrest and you're surrounded by an angry mob hurling insults at you. Witnesses have already testified to that. In fact, one noted that the police could have tasered Floyd toward the beginning of their interaction. I'm pretty sure that wouldn't have been helpful either.
You're coming at this as if the police knew then what we know now. They did not and could not have. We have the advantage of hindsight and no reasonable trained police officer in that particular situation would have done anything differently.
