You’d think Sulu would have something to say about this, seeing as how he was a former resident and all, but he’s a hypocrite like all of them are so he won’t say shit.
The truth about interment of Japanese. With the west coast seen as the target of a Japanese invasion and 10's of thousands of Japanese living there there were given the choice to move inland. Many refused. They also refused to take a loyalty oath to the U.S. Thousands returned to Japan to fight for the Rising Sun. Italians, Germans in the east took the oath so internment was not needed for them. Those Japanese forced to inter were just the adult males. Females, and children didn't have to, but most went willing with the males. But once they declared themself to inter were not allowed to leave. Everything was paid for by the U.S. Food, housing, schools, medical, all incidentals.
Interesting story I was not aware of. Thanks. The Japanese in Hawaii were seen as a threat, and there was much spy activity going on. The US Government even issued special money for the islands marked HAWAII so if the island were taken they could make that money worthless. There were just too many Japanese on the island to inter them so they just tried to keep on eye on them.

Yeah, it's a tidbit nobody ever really brings up for some reason
