There was more to it than the CIA running around, pell-mell, and, he shared much of the responsibility. Further, on inspection, the Cuban Missile Crisis was pretty much his fault. But, whole point being, he wasn't that beloved, and a change in administration from his wasn't something that was wholly disagreeable.
