If we don't form militias and teach our kids to fight, there won't be an avenue for them to build those skills. Before, you could serve your country and it was honorable. You were paid to do it and spend 40 hours a week acquiring skills that doubled as a guard against tyranny in our backyard.

Now it is getting increasingly unattractive to sign up. Soon it will be a constant pain to endure for those who are already in. The best of us will soon reject that path. Without a fun 'weekend warrior' retreat for the next generation to get in on, we'll lose that advantage that has protected us for so long.

If your children aren't already into airsoft, look into it. There's a growing mil-sim community running proper gear. They are called 'larpers', but they are the people who take the training seriously, but don't want to, or can't otherwise serve.
