I know Texans love their system but property tax can be much, much worse and more unfair than income tax. At the very least you have to make something to pay taxes. But you can lose your job and be unemployed for quite some time and still have to pay your tax on property.

Most people don't pay federal income taxes. They get their big "refund" every April which is really just a cash payment courtesy of working Americans

24th Amendment: citizens cannot be denied the suffrage rights for not paying a poll tax or any other taxes.
