I've already started the petition portion for the filing and it's looking pretty easy to get the 1000+ signatures as people are hearing that I'm serious about going after this guy and have volunteered to help me get those signatures I need to file.
I have zero clue on what I am doing though. I've never ran a campaign or been a part of one in fact. All I know is Dan Newhouse is a traitor and he needs to go.
So, I'm looking for advice, guidance, and recommendations on how to begin my campaign to unseat him.
I'm just an average middle class american tired of career politicians selling out America for their own personal greed. In fact, that is one of the things I would really like to see happen is to get term limits in for Congress.
I'm an Army Veteran (honorable discharge) and I took my oath and still do to support and defend the Constitution and seeing these Democrats purposefully whittle and erode it to serve their purposes has me spitting mad.
The 2nd Amendment states "shall not be infringed" and yet the Democrats dismiss those words as if they are not even there. It's like the battle of Athens never happened. The 2nd Amendment is the only thing keeping our Government from enacting tyrannical rule over our lives.
I firmly believe in America First policies and I do not believe our country has any reason to be conducting business with countries that are in the act of committing genocide. There is other countries that build our cheap useless crap that are not communist and actually are not committing human rights violations.
I also believe that the office of the President has too much power and that Executive Orders need to be brought in check. Congress is the Legislative branch and for too long they have deferred their responsibilities to the Executive Branch because they are too cowardly to take up any action that may threaten their chances of getting another term.
I also believe that Tech censorship is a threat to American liberties and that by conducting such censorship these companies claimed to be platforms have indeed become publishers and should then be held and seen as such.
There needs to be antitrust actions brought upon Google and the company needs to be broken apart.
My name is (removed at admin request) and I am running for congress. I would like your help, advice, and guidance to help me unseat Dan Newhouse and kick him to the curb where he belongs.
edit: I would like to say thank you for the outpouring of support, advice, and recommendations. All of it I will use in the days coming ahead. The fight will be rough. I am currently outgunned and outmanned. Financially, I know my opponent has resources that are absolutely enormous compared to mine. He is an entrenched elite career politician who has powerful friends in high places. I just can't bitch anymore. Complaining is useless. It takes good people to stand up and fight for what they believe in if there is to be any sort of positive change for the better. Dan Newhouse is part of the problem. A career politician who makes his money selling favors to corporate behemoths. As a soldier I was trained to adapt and overcome any problem that stood in my way and Dan Newhouse is a problem. He needs to go. Thank you again for your encouragement, support, and advice. I will need it all in the days coming ahead.
First thing's first, you need to establish a campaign team. You'll want a group of Untouchables that you can trust.
Get a website. It should list your positions in a straightforward and succinct manner. You'll want an About Me page describing who you are and where you're from. Once you start gaining traction, you should also consider adding an Endorsements page. That is, big-name people who support you, and big-name people that you support. That helps establish who you are, while also raising awareness of other MAGA candidates. Be careful with asking for endorsements, because a person or group may want something in return.
A Donate page is also important, but take care not to plaster the Donate button everywhere, lest your website look like a gift. On that note, whomever builds your site should know a thing or two about web design, because the presentation often says just as much as the message itself.
You'll need to decide for yourself if it's worth having a Twitter or Facebook account. You'll get more attention, but the risk of being silenced is severe. Others may disagree, but I'd say go for it, and don't pre-censor yourself. Make them censor you, if only to prove your point about Big Tech censorship.
On that note, establish a "brand", because you are essentially selling yourself as a product. Trump had "Make America Great Again", Reagan had "Morning in America", and even Droney McPeaceprize had "Hope and Change". People might chuckle at these phrases but they stick in your mind.
Try getting in touch with activists like Scott Pressler. Other names will be mentioned here, so if you can network with people like that, they can help build or promote your campaign. Even if they don't have financial resources , they can still give advice. Also look for conservative commentators on the radio and YouTube, and reach out to their team. If you can secure even a 10 minute interview, that'll help a lot.
More important however would be establishing yourself in your local parties. City and County/District. Make a good name for yourself and use it as a chance to network.
Once you're a formal candidate, you'll need to hold rallies and knock on doors. Understand your District. Understand who votes and for whom. Approach people like small business owners (that don't immediately give off a pro-Biden stench). Do not ask for their vote, but instead explain to him or her that you're running for Congress and that you want to hear what personally matters to them. If they're receptive, give them 15 to 30 minutes to discuss their concerns. While you may be pro 2nd Amendment, perhaps your District's voters are ambivalent on self defense rights, and they're more worried about taxes or education. If that's what they care about, then you need to address those issues. That's not to say that you abandon your support of the 2nd Amendment or overhaul your viewpoints out of opportunism, only that you should focus on what matters most to John Doe.
Research your opponent(s). It's not enough to have a vision, you need to take a page out of The Art of War, and adapt it for a political campaign. Know your opponents better than they know themselves. Know their history of voting, whom they endorse (and don't endorse), what corporations support them, and when they've lied or flip-flopped. If you ever have a debate, you should be able to shred them with their own history.
I have no campaign experience, but you can PM me if you want some help with tailoring a speech. I'd like to believe that I'm a decent writer.
