The thing about Voyager is that they never made it about SJW crap. They just kept to the story and left real world politics out of it. That's something that DS9 couldn't handle... they were all about the SJW politics of the 90s. Voyager came along and just wanted to be a show about space exploration.
One thing I noticed about DS9 when I rewatched it in 2017 is that it shined a spotlight how fascistic the Federation was. Their civilians were dicked over constantly and didn't really own anything - not even Sisko's dad with his restaurant.
The aliens in the show constantly were mocking the Federation's lack of possessions and money and there are several cases online that argue that the rest of the capitalist galaxy had a better standard of life than anyone under the Federation banner.
Oh, and let's not forget the Maquis, who tried to earn independence when the Federation gave them up to the Cardassians and they were hunted down as "terrorists" by their own former government.
