I am a hobby wood worker and I just built a desk for my kids out of scrap wood after looking at the cost of 2x4s. I don't have a saw milling machine but I can reclaim anything small, I have a jointer and planer and all the other small stuff.
I am friendly with a local business and get shipping wood (pallets and LAAARGE crates) for free —- he says haul off as much as I want, he cannot get rid of it fast enough.
Some of those large crates are made with dimensional 2x3x8’ 😎
Sell it while you can, prices will fall when the housing market goes bust from Trump's years of building and Biden's years of inflation where dollars are devalued and property is no longer affordable due to 5% interest rates.
I agree. I have been waiting for a year now to put on a simple deck and finish my T&G in the house. I am afraid if I buy now, 3 months from now it will drop back to normal price and I will feel like an idiot for wasting thousands of dollars just because I didnt wait a few months. Our towns school builds a house for sale each year and it was going to add nearly $20,000 to the price so that even got cancelled.
Ammo prices? Have you seen lumber prices? Start stocking wood for barter.
A man with a sawmill will live like a king
