I was there, the main issue was that a good part of the crowd was just treating it as another big MAGA rally. You had folks bringing their children, families, there were women and elderly people in the crowd getting tear gassed. Those of us who were objective-minded (i.e. hold the Capitol until the correct winner is certified) were outnumbered. And if someone did decide to go John Rambo and pull out a weapon, all of those innocent people would be at risk of dying from police gunfire. It was a no-win situation, but we still did scare the living shit out of the traitors in our government (hence all the fortifications in DC)

I’m not sure the effect of protests; seems more to be theatre for the benefit of media amplification which won’t be accorded the right. Aside from the prospect of it outright being subverted. After Jan 6 it was no longer possible to put forward arguments about the election.

The point of non-violent mass protests is to display your strength in numbers, commitment and resolve. The audience for this is not so much the authorities and the media, it's for your allies and the normies.

We are already doing things on the local level, taking up seats in the GOP among other things. Where I live several great candidates are running for the local school board.
