Viruses survive longer when the host organism DOES NOT DIE....
New naturally occurring variants of C-19 will be less dangerous over time... just like any other virus, if the virus is extremely deadly, the epidemic burns itself out quickly.
It's not possible to make a virus that mutates to become more deadly later in a free running pandemic.

However, Bannon keeps trying to hype "new" variants of C-19 as "more deadly"... his statements on the virus become less and less believable as he continues the hype and fear.
If the virus actually escaped or was purposely introduced into society by the Wuhan lab, it wasn't very effective at killing humans. The fear and the hype is what allowed the State to destroy freedom. Bannon is helping the State by continuing the fear and hype.
