The precedent is there, secession is treason. I mean, it's almost the definition of treason to begin with. The real question is why you have a problem with that.
Always an interesting discussion. The Brits called the Patriots traitors. The Yankees called the South traitors, who were seemingly doing the same thing the Yankees and southerners did to the Brits and killed well over half a million people to stop it. The winner gets to write it I guess.
