Suddenly coming into money doesn’t make you smarter, or a hard worker, or more honest. Whatever type of person you were before being given the money is the same type of person you will be after getting the money. This is why so many lottery winners wind up bankrupt a few years after winning. Most lottery winners made bad financial decisions before winning the lottery. After winning, they just have more money to make even poorer decisions with.
Same thing will happen with reparations. The overwhelming majority of recipients will ultimately be the same as they are today or even worse off 5 years after getting the money. If they are a gangsta they will continue to be that. If they are a deadbeat, they will be a deadbeat with more money for a few months or years.
The only people who will benefit from reparations are those who don’t need them.
Another great example are natives on reservations. One big government check at 18 and they usually get preyed upon by their own for it. I can only imagine some of the arguments now...
Black wamens need more because of single motherhood (even if their children get a payout too.) Black children need a double payout because their parents took theirs. Black men need more because of their tendency towards incarceration in a racist system ruining future prospects and robbing them of their most productive years. Black wamens need more again for all the kids they didn't have because racism made it impossible to afford them so they aborted them, its like a genocide! (plz don't ban abortions though) Well, it can't JUST be descendants of slaves (Who are still of color, no white looking race mixtures please), it also needs to pay for those who lived through or were descendent of those from Jim Crow days! And black immigrants who came over after Jim Crow but before affirmative action! And coloreds in general for having to live in a white supremacy and racism amplifying system! Etc. etc. etc.
Long story short; People don't want to do the hard work, but want to have nice things (and often the nicest of all things - delusions that seem real).
And after this, what then?
Reparations 2.0? Like how endless amnesty started?
It's taxpayer money. Not theirs to begin with to give out for "vote for us" bribes.
Yes, exactly. That’s another problem with reparations. Once the money runs out, they will claim they weren’t given enough. The Left will agree with them saying “no amount could ever repair the damage of slavery from 200 years ago” and they will make the push for UBI reparations. A never ending monthly check for all black people, present and future.
Black people are literally in chains today in Saudi Arabia but 0.01% of people 200 years ago owned slaves is more important. .
Depends on which supporters we are talking about, ignorant white liberals or the corporations that make the things the reparations money will be spent on? Reparations will be a working class subsidy for Amazon.
I don't know what liquor store owners are hoping, but they sure support reparations.
