I'm just glad Portland OR and Seattle have shit in their pants and Californians aren't moving up here much anymore. The NW is all Red except for the Commie City Hives. When the time comes we just isolate them and let them eat sawdust and each other burning themselves into the ground. And they are well on their way. Portland is a dead city, Seattle is in it's death throws.
As a Californian who has sold his company, sold his home, and later this month plans to move to a home I purchased in Tennessee, I can tell you that the LA Times is lying. I know plenty of people, more than just the celebrities that you know of that are making the move out of state to the Texas, Florida, and, like me, Tennessee.
More so as I informed my clients that I was selling the business, so many told me of their family and friends were doing the same. All wished me well and most told me how much they wish they could leave but for one reason or another they were unable to do so.
We know we can't trust media sources like the LA Times. And this one, I can tell you for sure, that they're full of crap. At the very best case for CA, if it is indeed a net wash of move outs and move ins, they are replacing tax payers with tax users. And that will not work out over the long haul.
EDIT - Hell... I was there this week and the guy who mans the gate at the rental car garage at Nashville BNA airport looked at my CA drivers license and asked if I was looking at houses. I told him I already bought one and he said everyone with a CA ID coming through is looking at houses. LA Times is just a propaganda arm of the Democrat party. Plain and simple.
I met a family Friday morning that had just moved to Florida. I had to ask about voting for democraps here now that he is in Florida. His response was that nobody voted for democraps in california either, that they stole all the elections
Here's some actual data from San Joses paper the Mercury News
During the fourth quarter of 2020, roughly 114,600 people left the Bay Area, up 29.7 percent from the same period in 2019. At the same time, researchers estimated about 267,000 people left California, an increase of 14.9 percent.
Far fewer people came into the state and Bay Area over the same three-month periods.
About 54,200 people entered the Bay Area in the fourth quarter of 2020, down 27.1 percent from the final three months of 2019. About 127,600 people came to California in the fourth quarter, down 30.4 percent from the year before.
The writing is on the wall, the media is working overtime to gaslight people to stay put.
In reality if you hold property in CA, especially liberal areas, you should be getting out now. They are just trying to avoid a crash.
The bay in particular is all tech. Tech is now like 99% remote.
Why on earth would anyone look to pay $5000/mo for rent when they can live anywhere in the country for less and make the same money?
No yard, no garage, human shit everywhere. High crime, lockdowns out the ass.
I personally know very very liberal people who are bailing on California because it's a shithole.
Not good for the red areas where they land, but still funny to watch the collapse.

Consult with your tax advisor and make sure you have a solid "I don't live in CA anymore, you can't tax me!" plan.

"The nonpartisan California Policy Lab..."
Their job is to support California policy.
