Live rural, I am the home owners association. I don't complain about my neighbors and I don't expect them to complain about me. Simple and it works well.

I would never ever move somewhere an HOA is established and would obstruct the establishment of one in my neighborhood.

You kinda need to have them if you life in a condo with shared parking, etc or a gated community.
But an HOA for single family homes? That's just idiotic.
