well its from back in 2018. and the investigations all started back in 14-15. Read the entire article linked.

Also, due to the nature of the vulnerabilities posed, as well as not wanting to freak everyone out, it makes sense why Apple, Amazon and co. all pulled out and replaced their hardware quietly.
