A coworker and I were having conversations about race, and I told her that I would be completely honest with her in these conversations (since that is what they want, right?) So, I told her about this kind of stuff and how most white people perceive it and she was honestly shocked. She literally had no idea that this bothered most people. The she proceeded to call it racist thought. I told her, no it is about being polite, respectful to others, it has nothing to do with your color. She just about fell over.
