I think this is a bad title, but it is well-documented that sweat-shops tend to offer safer and better work for women living in 3rd world countries. Many women choose to work in them, despite bad conditions, because the alternative is farm work, marriage (which is hard for a lot of women in the 3rd world), or prostitution. It is also empowering for men in the 3rd world, as men face similar issues where again the alternatives are practically just farm-work or a couple of rare trades that the US aid tends to crowd out.
