So I just was out with my girls. I promised to buy some comics for them while we were out. We went to Barnes and Noble. I know they're over priced, but part of the fun is flipping through the books and buying them right now rather than online. My girls still feel the societal pressure to wear masks. I nudge them into not wearing them, but I won't force them.
So we went in, me maskless, my 11 year old wore it before even walking in, and my 14 year old went maskless at first, but as she saw every other sheep in the store, she eventually succumbed and donned her mask. I was disappointed, but didn't make a big deal out if it. All I did was tell her she doesn't have to wear the mask, and dropped it.
So nobody said a thing to me the entire time until I got to checkout. The lady there asked me if I had a mask. I answered yes, but I'm not interested. She said that she was unwilling to sell me the books unless I put on my mask. I dropped the books on the counter, and told her we'd buy them online then. My 11 year old is upset right now, but the girls needed to see that I will not be forced to conform to these fake rules. I'm in the process of buying the comics on eBay right now.
You should let the manager know what happened. Call and tell them, because otherwise it is just some cashier that knows. Book stores are hurting. They need all the business they can get. Tell the manager why you did not buy from there.

"Book stores are hurting"
Barnes & Noble got bought out (Hostile takeover) by a Billionaire named Paul E Singer.
He is not hurting.
These Billionaires use capital pools (commonly called hedge funds) to buy up any large independent media and infrastructure.
Controlling book distribution is controlling media.
They don't care about the profit.
This is a war of attrition.
I am surprised to hear this! Seriously, are people still buying books in bookstores? I thought everything was online now. And is reading down?
