Police are the state. They are the way the vast majority of Americans interact with the government. Other than the cops, what do people do? DMV? Business licenses? Cops are the only government you talk to on the reg.
Some cops are OK. Some might even do the right thing.
But for the most part, they are the state, not the people.
When their livelihoods are on the line, most will tow the line.
That's why most people aren't fighting back right now, and haven't throughout history. Only when people are facing starvation, or worse, will they start to fight back. People are too comfortable and aren't willing to give up the lifestyle
