Most companies do it for PR because they think that it will help them make money, by making sure they are not cancelled. However, the big corporations, they don't have to worry about money, the people at the top there must genuinely believe in the white guilt stuff. If Bill Gates came out and said "men can't be women, and Biden is a pedo" would Microsoft really be hurt? People still have to use Windows, they can't exactly cancel Microsoft. And god forbid they have to cancel Apple for some reason and give up their iphones? Never. So I think it is a case of successful people feeling guilty because they don't actually think they deserve all that money. They could just give most of it to charity and feel good about that, but nah, they'd rather destroy society because some people are more successful than others.
Wokeness is a religion not about virtue, but about virtue signaling. It is about social currency based on who supports the most victimized (not about the actual victimized group itself). This means in the roughest sense, Zuckerberg is woke because it gains him social currency in his leftist globalist environment. An interesting facet of the "nerds inheriting the earth" thing, these are people who grow up desiring social status because they didn't have it, so when they get in power, that's where they put their money, into their social status.
Disagree with part of your claim. These people don’t actually believe they don’t deserve the money. Maybe grunts at the bottom, but the Bill Gates’s and CEOs don’t. They are about making money. Period.
And I will disagree with you. Bill Gates has more money than he could ever spend. For men like him, it's about who and power. The power to control people, to direct human history, to leave a Bill Gates-shaped imprint on society. These people are megalomaniacs who get off on engineering humanity.
I would agree they have so much money that they want to, and can, influence world wide politics. I just don’t think they actually believe they are bad people and have a conscience about it.
