No you seem to be missing the point. The door was still open next to them, they asked repeatedly if there was another guy in the room, meaning they were worried that someone else was going to jump out and start shooting. He also really did struggle to follow simple instructions and they were under the impression that he had a gun, which is why they were there.

Scroll up a bit and you'll realise I was the guy that commented this "I described what happened in the video and how the cop executed the guy whilst giving conflicting orders and a ton of people here told me that the guy should have listened and he would still be alive."

Those kind of commands are absolutely typical in that kind of situation, I'm not saying that the guy needed to be shot, what did you take my comment to mean? Because clearly you and a few others have missed my point.

I’m not accusing you of being in favor of him being shot. But my point still stands, their tactics and commands are trash if this is the result they produce. So the cops brilliant tactic was to ask him (the alleged criminal) if there’s someone in the room? Yep, take his word for it. Genius. Nope they need a better way to check without needing to make the guy play Simon says. Btw what position was Daniel (victim’s name) in when he was shot? Like some other poster said, they should have just put a knee on his neck for 9 minutes and he’d still be alive today.

Obviously I agree that the commands were trash and they didn't deal with the situation in the best way at all. I was just commenting on the fact that when you've got a jumpy cop who seems to be on a power trip and is threatening to shoot you if you fuck up the slightest bit.. don't put your hands behind your back where he can't see them, and follow the cunts instructions so you can live.

You're right about the questions thing though, the cop clearly doesn't believe what the guy is going to say anyway, so why ask?

The police are trained to take safely into custody people who are in no condition to follow orders, e.g. because they're drunk, on drugs, experiencing a medical condition, etc etc.

"In the official police report of the incident, Brailsford defended his actions, saying that Shaver crawling towards the officers was Shaver "trying to gain a position of advantage in order to gain a better firing position on us". Shaver had indeed crawled towards the officers after one of them instructed him to."

"Four months after the shooting, Charles Langley, the officer who gave orders to Shaver, retired from the department. By December 2017, Langley had emigrated to the Philippines."
