Ummmm, in Texas and in Florida, they treat people who get sick immediately and on an outpatient basis. The person generally quarantines at home, produces fewer virus particles (reducing transmission and new strains), and is sick for a much shorter period of time.

In California, they send them home untreated, to see who gets really sick, and pass the virus to family members at the very least. This means a month of illness instead of a week, including for young people.
