Everyone in my family is vaccinated. My girlfriend and I both have antibodies. Our city has had less than 10 covid “deaths” in the last two weeks and less than 30 daily cases. We were planning a big family barbecue at the end of the month. 30+ family members who haven’t seen each other in almost 18 months. We had catering and everything ready to go. Invites were sent out. RSVPs started rolling in.

Then my mother called me this morning and said maybe we should “put it on hold just to be safe because the CDC says that we’re not out of the woods yet.”

I said nothing for a few seconds. This is the end of the line for me. I am ready to lose family and friends. Never see them again. I told my mom that we might as well be dead if this is how we are going to live. I said I will not be seeing her as long as she is living in fear of something that does not present a threat in our lives anymore. She did not raise me to live in fear. I hope she received the message, because I am done with this. We are beyond lunacy.

The survival rate of the virus is higher than the survival rate of the vaccine.

Can not find video on utube now. I saw it but I can not prove it with a video. The was or had doctors talking about the side effects.

I've heard this... but I have no real 'proof' of this.

My daughter skipped Christmas with the family because a stranger on television told her to. Then she came sniffing around for sympathy about how sad she was that she was lonely during Christmas.

I just laughed and ignored it. We tried to convince her before the party that everything was fine but her husband was too scared. She came alone to see me on my birthday 2 months later and brought up wearing a mask. I told her if she's wearing a mask not to come. She came without it. It was the first time she'd seen a family member since last year.

Just calmly stay your course. If she stays hers then you may need to wait until her digital overlords tell her she's OK. Live your life and have a great BBQ.

I understand your frustration, but that is your mom. A day will come when she is no longer here and you won’t get a do-over. Don’t let the wicked left succeed in dividing you from your own mother. Tell your mom how you feel and agree to disagree. Just my two-cents, as someone who would give anything to have their mom on earth again.

"...something that does not present a threat in our lives anymore"

What do you mean anymore? Nothing has changed. Nothing. The only thing that has changed is that there is now a presently optional vaccine that also has the potential to fuck you up.

If anything, we are in a worse place now than we were a year ago, and by that I mean, we are still living with a virus that has a 99.65% survival rate.

I wouldn't throw family away so casually- in the end that doesn't do anybody any good.

I've found that just going ahead with your plans is the best course of action. People who rant and rave against it shut up real quick when they feel left out and see other people living their lives without them. Tell her she can stay home if she feels it's unsafe but that you hope to see her there and leave it at that. I bet she'll show up.

As far as I’m concerned we are “out of the woods”. They’re probably refusing to acknowledge the prevalence of natural immunity which should be quite high at this point.

the vaccine makes you more susceptible to common illnesses, and amplifies them. something about prion diseases.

I think of all the idiots who eat junk food, smoke, drink and are more afraid of the covid. They are not afraid of diabetes, cancer or cirrhosis of the liver because of their unhealthy lifestyle. Clown world, indeed.

My dad is vaccinated and I am not, he visits me for the first time in 2 years and says "I just got my second shot so I figured I'd venture out." I asked him where he went and he responds "I came over here (to my place)."

I didn’t see my family for 4 months after we first shut down. 18 months is unfathomable to me. My parents were worried about their health if they caught coofs (both have serious preexisting conditions) &, to be fair, so was/am I. Over that 4 months, I updated my parents on EVERYTHING that was coming out in contradiction to “the news”. I think they realized no one has any clue what the hell is going on & we should just be smart & trust our own instincts. Life alone like that wasn’t worth it.

Soon after that, my mom asked if I wear a mask & I told her no. She flipped out at first, my dad didn’t seem to care, & my brother wanted me to tell him how I get away with it. I think that helped us further realize that we need to worry about ourselves, know the law, & just be smart.

More like this:

I'm not afraid of you. I love you. However, you are afraid of me. When you are ready to welcome me back in to your arms, I will gladly come. When you show up on my doorstep one day ready to welcome me back in to your life, I will be ready. But until you lose your fear, I'm afraid you won't be comfortable with me around. Just let me know when you are done.

I've heard these stats before. I'd love to find the raw numbers for this. I think I saw a CDC link for this once, and then it disappeared. Does anyone have a link?
