It's happened a few times...google Johannes Mehserle from BART in San Francisco. Officer was convicted of manslaughter due to his mistaking his gun for a Taser. That's precisely what happened here, as you hear her give the Taser! Taser! Taser! warning, which is standard protocol. Tragic mistake here by the lady cop and she will no doubt pay the price.
I think in this situation it's a forgivable mistake. I don't think she's competent enough to be working in the police but I don't see anything I would consider criminal. Perhaps their hiring practices.
I agree, and I'm a cop. However, given the way the legal system works, even this good faith mistake can be viewed as legal negligence even if she had no intention of killing Wright. Unfortunate and sad but true.
Quite different than Chauvin, actually, because the prone restraint is legal and commonly used. Any cop who claims otherwise is a liar.
Yeah I've been watching old seasons of COPS (since they cancelled LivePD) and I see it in literally nearly every episode. At least 75% of episodes show them using a prone restraint. I actually didn't realize how common it is.
Difference there is he was issued an M26 Taser that is not fired by pulling a trigger but rather raising a lever on the left side of the device and has an intentionally short grip that would never reach a normal sized palm's end.
That's what it looks like... I wonder if this is a rookie cop that was brought in after the defund the police? They need to shed light on this fast... Idk how you could mistake your duty weapon for a taser...
I made a post below. They stand in shock as the suspect speeds away... I found that bizarre that they wouldn't be in pursuit? I guess just the shock of what just happened?
Increased funding to these departments would make for better employees so stuff like this was less likely to happen. I would also argue this is two-fold. Women, like men, should be able to become police but whether they're physically AND mentally fit should play a large factor in hiring.
Too many obese cops that can't run as fast as the person they're pursuing or being too weak to be able to properly restrain people. And they need to mentally be able to handle their fear and panic. This lady sounds worried and I'd guess was worried about being physically overpowered. That resulted in a huge mistake.
tazer is almost always a weak hand draw so i do not understand how that officer could have been confused about which service weapon they had drawn. just a pure lack of understanding and clearly not enough training.
we have weak side draw but still strong hand... this way you can't have tazer in one hand and gun in the other.. but the cross draw makes it a deliberate and unique draw vs. carrying both on the strong side....
not sure her belt set up but this is bad day..
and regardless, looters are gonna loot.
Someone was saying she committed suicide. I haven't verified that yet.
Edit: I've searched around and have not found anything saying she has suicided. The source was a protestor in Portland Andy's live stream of Brooklyn Center last night.
Have you seen the video of the black chick dancing around then tasing her hooha and spasms for a while because she can't let go? It's disgusting and I don't recommend putting any effort into looking for it.
The protester in the stream who mentioned the news said she thought it may have been to just quell the anger. She specifically mentioned that even if the femeale officer did commit suicide, it's not enough and that she thinks people should continue "protesting".
Well it's not my fault! The lever to reduce throttle is really hard to pull and I broke a fingernail the last time I did it. The stupid dump fuel lever is close to it and easier to pull so GET OFF MY BACK! I'm going to human resources so fast it's going to make your head spin! RAPE!!!
Losers all the way around on this one... Naturally the Perp, then you got the Fuck Head on the Passenger side doing nothing but holding his dick, then you got dipshit on the driver side can't even cuff the fucker... then of course... the dumbass who can't tell the difference between a taser and a pistol....
The only distinct liabilities I see in this one is the female police officer and the perp.
If you examine the situation carefully and think about it, well the perp isn't going to make things easy so there's that but if you look at what the woman does she's counter productive in multiple steps.
First she fails to come in and assist grabbing the perp from the side his arm is free on with the officer expecting to be covered from that end but isn't.
It continues along that trend. Even when he's going to pull him out of the car she's basically shoving him aside. She's clearly useless and should not be in close proximity or tense situations.
The police needs to turn this into a moment of female empowerment. An oppressed wamyn police officer (insert race here if non-white can be construed) fired against a half white patriarchal oppressor who resisted female authority and ignored her order, and drove away in a large white phallic car.
Fun Fact: Female officers accidently use their gun and shoot people while meaning to grab their taser far more than male officers. It is a well known trend within police forces, but it's not allowed to be talked about publicly because that would be sexist.
Its almost like Men are biologically more set-up to deal with high stress situations and are more physically capable and confident in their ability to physically restrain a male suspect?
The video is from a cell phone recording what looks like a computer screen. This is a leak instead of a normal release. The 1:00 timestamp shows the video stop playing on VLC media player before the Youtube video stops.
Says who? A lot of police departments are required to release the body worn recording within a certain amount of time. It's speculation to say they leaked a shitty copy unless you know that as fact.
Because you are watching a video of a video. Some of the versions of this show a second or two longer video and you can see it's being recorded off of a computer screen using VLC by VideoLan. It's also why the audio is so shitty quality.
Probably the noise of the shot shocked them, plus the realization, plus they likely have orders not to pursue non felonies because it endangers the public.
It isn't beyond protocol for a police officer to open fire on someone re-entering their vehicle or even simply reaching into the vehicle. Even though she made the mistake of using her firearm as opposed to a taser, it is not beyond their purview to actually use their firearm.
Oof a black police officer and a woman police officer shot and killed a wanted criminal who was a resisting and attempting to flee. Lots of buzzwords. Lots of diversity. No white men. Good luck MSM.
Welp, woman cop thought she was tazing someone but pulled the wrong thing out of her belt. If she's pulling the wrong thing out of her belt, it's probably because she doesn't have the proper muscle memory (a sign of being untrained). Lack of police training is a serious problem. This seems like an open and shut manslaughter case. Wright was fighting with police and there was a clear struggle where it would have been reasonable to think he was grabbing for an officer's gun or something. It seems like everyone fucked up a little here, but absent a truly malicious prosecution (cough cough Chauvin prosecutors), I don't see this being anything above manslaughter.
WHY DONT THEY MAKE GUNS VOICE ACTIVATED!!! She clearly wanted to be using Judge Dreadd tech and was trying to convert the glock into taser mode.
In all seriousness if he had not tried to flee, he would be back home by now awaiting a trial for his crime. This does not excuse the police mess up, but this video clearly shows manslaughter at the very most. Armed suspect resisting arrest does not normally end too well for the perp.
Yeah, looks like he was beginning to cuff then the officer tried to pep talk him for probably tensing up? You just gotta cuff and not screw around? I'm not a cop so I wouldn't know... just putting that opinion out there? and wouldn't you try to separate the person you are arresting to the back of the vehicle so they can't just plop right back down in the driver's seat?
Seems like all of this was a recipe for what went down?
You're right, I remember a show called LivePD, literally every stop they would bring the suspect to the back of the vehicle, first cuff, then search.... so much fuckups here.
Yeah, when I first saw the video it looked like the cop put his handcuffs on Duante, but after a watch again he didn't get the cuffs on. I think he was simultaneously searching the suspects pockets while trying to put cuffs on him.
Exactly, so many fuck ups here, but both the perp and the cops.
First and foremost, the guy who was getting arrested did the worst thing possible, and takes the biggest share of the blame. The office was black too, so he should at least have listened to his "brother" and not been fearful. Bottom line, if you don't want to get shot by police, don't commit crimes then resist and try something stupid like that.
Now to the cops, supposedly they had a warrant, so why were they playing around? The big black cop looked like he was going to cuff, then started tucking his shirt in his back and patting him down before cuffs?
Also, why were they playing around on the street side of the car and squishing up against it like that? Just get the guy out and escort him around to the back, putting yourself between him and the drivers door, then cuff and then search. Since there were three cops, no reason to do it the way they did.
If they would have taken him around back the third cop could have taken the keys out and tossed them in the seat or the hood too.
Another huge point, nothing racist about this at all either, that lady cop just fucked up, and should pay the price for it, whatever that is. I know being a cop can be tough, but that is why they train and clearly she did not train enough.
Nows that is a fuck up using a gun thinking it's a taser

I read that she's been on the force for a long time.
Increased funding to these departments would make for better employees so stuff like this was less likely to happen. I would also argue this is two-fold. Women, like men, should be able to become police but whether they're physically AND mentally fit should play a large factor in hiring.

yeah very unfortunate mistake on her part. last i heard all the looted items have concealed food and water so its all good.
Negligent Discharge that kills someone?
There should be no tolerance for that shit, badge or not.
It is not called negligent discharge for nothing.
Someone was saying she committed suicide. I haven't verified that yet.
Edit: I've searched around and have not found anything saying she has suicided. The source was a protestor in Portland Andy's live stream of Brooklyn Center last night.
Taser taser taser in the bathtub
Have you seen the video of the black chick dancing around then tasing her hooha and spasms for a while because she can't let go? It's disgusting and I don't recommend putting any effort into looking for it.
After the Chauvin lynching, I wouldn't be surprised. Maybe it was an attempt to stop rioting if it did happen.
The protester in the stream who mentioned the news said she thought it may have been to just quell the anger. She specifically mentioned that even if the femeale officer did commit suicide, it's not enough and that she thinks people should continue "protesting".
Expect a lot of fuck ups with diversity hires in all industries in the coming years
"Landing gear, landing gear, landing gear"
*** Retracts the flaps ***
*** Dumps fuel ***
Lol Can't wait for all the new pilots......
"Congratulations! To meet industry diversity requirements, we are now promoting you from flight attendant to pilot! "
*** Opens door at cruising altitude ***
*** trying to explain what a tarmac is ***
STOP MANSPLAINING ME BIGOT
Well it's not my fault! The lever to reduce throttle is really hard to pull and I broke a fingernail the last time I did it. The stupid dump fuel lever is close to it and easier to pull so GET OFF MY BACK! I'm going to human resources so fast it's going to make your head spin! RAPE!!!
*** Requests tower fly-by ***
I'm hoping they'll have "HURR DUURR SUPPORT TRANNY PILOTS" links on the booking sites as a handy guide of what flights to avoid.
Yeah, sort of like Google maps pointing out which are black or minority owned businesses.
Coming years?
Bless your heart. You must be new to Minneapolis PD. They invented that shit. Go look up Mohommed Noor.
The faces of her colleagues after that.
If Chavin was there this would have been prevented.
“Wait, Chauvin was a good cop?”
“Always was”
😂
Losers all the way around on this one... taser taser taser
she’s fucked
Mpls gonna burn
Now's the time to get out of that city while you can.
Should have done that last year.
i actually did! now in Albuquerque
We're at the point were its time to get our asses to mars.
The police needs to turn this into a moment of female empowerment. An oppressed wamyn police officer (insert race here if non-white can be construed) fired against a half white patriarchal oppressor who resisted female authority and ignored her order, and drove away in a large white phallic car.
yes 100% wiener car made her shoot
Fun Fact: Female officers accidently use their gun and shoot people while meaning to grab their taser far more than male officers. It is a well known trend within police forces, but it's not allowed to be talked about publicly because that would be sexist.
Its almost like Men are biologically more set-up to deal with high stress situations and are more physically capable and confident in their ability to physically restrain a male suspect?
Nah. Diversity is our strength.
Or possibly smaller hands. Another comment mentions that some Tasers have shorter grips.
Any sources?
has to be the quietest shot ever?
Why is the sound so fucked up?
And what the fuck were they doing, CUFF THE SUSPECT, don't fuck about.
Body cam mic probably won't even pick up noises above certain decibels, so it just goes blank.
that's a serious design flaw...
goes to court, how many shots did you fire?
It's a limitation on electrocet microphones of that size. They can get overwhelmed.
There is a reason you still see big boom mics in use.
Porns use the biggest booms... believe me...
then use something better, if a cheap mic in a cellphone can pick up gunshots, WTF can't one of these?
And how much will you be donating to your local police department comrade? Or do the taxpayers get to get fleeced again with your charity? :D
get a grip.
To be fair, there probably was enough allocated to get better mics but grifters gotta grift.
On my pistol or my tazer?
You gonna magic them into existence?
No, just making the point that they are fucking usless and I'm sure they paid good money for them.
You count the spent rounds from their firearm.
The video is from a cell phone recording what looks like a computer screen. This is a leak instead of a normal release. The 1:00 timestamp shows the video stop playing on VLC media player before the Youtube video stops.
It's an approved release. They're just pretending to leak it because normally they wouldn't be allowed.
Says who? A lot of police departments are required to release the body worn recording within a certain amount of time. It's speculation to say they leaked a shitty copy unless you know that as fact.
It might be speculation but you should always assume a leak might not be a leak.
I would never assume that though I would entertain the possibility.
assume + might means that same as that.
Great for you to have an opinion. That isn't my take on this. I would not assume. I would consider other possibilities.
Because you are watching a video of a video. Some of the versions of this show a second or two longer video and you can see it's being recorded off of a computer screen using VLC by VideoLan. It's also why the audio is so shitty quality.
Suspect resists arrest
You can hear the female cop say "Taser Taser Taser..."
Did she mistake her firearm for a taser???
She quickly realizes that she shot him...
The weird reaction is that the cops freeze after the suspect hits the gas... the cops don't bolt to their own vehicles to pursue?
It def seems like she thought she was aiming a taser at him...
Probably the noise of the shot shocked them, plus the realization, plus they likely have orders not to pursue non felonies because it endangers the public.
Woman police officer
well at least it was not a white male
oopsie but i am a girl
Is this a RENO 911 clip?
It isn't beyond protocol for a police officer to open fire on someone re-entering their vehicle or even simply reaching into the vehicle. Even though she made the mistake of using her firearm as opposed to a taser, it is not beyond their purview to actually use their firearm.
She still did society a favor. Single handedly she killed a dangerous criminal and she got an unqualified officer off the job.
Played stupid games, won stupid prize.
"Taser taser taser! I just shot him."
Oops.
Oops! Lol. 🤷🏼♀️
Oof a black police officer and a woman police officer shot and killed a wanted criminal who was a resisting and attempting to flee. Lots of buzzwords. Lots of diversity. No white men. Good luck MSM.

I think they just need to stop using tasers. They only seem to work for a few seconds max anyway, and that's IF the prongs penetrate.
works for me. Little punk deserves what he got.
If all dumbasses deserved death then the internet would be an awfully empty place.
That's not looking good.
I see this as a complete win
WHY DONT THEY MAKE GUNS VOICE ACTIVATED!!! She clearly wanted to be using Judge Dreadd tech and was trying to convert the glock into taser mode.

If you're going to resist, don't stand still with your hands behind your back. My guess would be he never got cuffed.
Yeah, when I first saw the video it looked like the cop put his handcuffs on Duante, but after a watch again he didn't get the cuffs on. I think he was simultaneously searching the suspects pockets while trying to put cuffs on him.
So he messed up as well as the shooter. This is actually something to be upset about, but rioting? Nah.
Pics of rioters smashing cop cars, with cops all around. Yet they also used tear gas to control the crowd. Wtf
Exactly, so many fuck ups here, but both the perp and the cops.
First and foremost, the guy who was getting arrested did the worst thing possible, and takes the biggest share of the blame. Nice analysis!
Chris Rock said something like that, lol
Nevermind, cops suck at their job I guess
Uh-oh...
To the officer that shot Daunte Wright, thank you for sending Daunte Wright to hell where he belongs.
Oooo Shit I just shot him, don't resist this woulda never happen, but yea lady cop done fucked up...This should sticky <3 MAGA2021
sounded like a wimmen
MSM will have a field day with this. No details, just "cops killed another unarmed black man."
She might have just gotten Chauvin convicted too. If not, the riots will burn down everything.
This was made to order.
Maybe this shitty police work is the result of defunded police.
Panicky female cop
Play stupid games...
