The police have never helped me once in my entire life. They were nice enough to return my wallet after it was thrown from my car during an accident, without any of the money in it.

Similar thing actually happened to a good friend of mine. I dropped him and his wife off after a night at the bar in college. Car was in his lawn. Called the cops and they were trying to get him for DUI and car theft. They eventually found the right guy strung out of his mind, naked, and passed out a few blocks down the street....
