I do think the police could be reformed in a reasonable way if the black community had a different narrative.

If they stopped racially collectivizing and make it out that police are racists and that's why they kill black people, and try to frame every black person who gets shot as innocent and cops as racist psychos, but instead framed it as the police vs people, there would be some common ground.

I can never get around to arguing if police need to change behaviors, cause all the time around this subject is spent defending police from accusations of racism and dismantling the arguments coming from BLM and whatnot.

Imagine how much more would have been accomplished if they viewed themselves not as black people, but as Americans, and appealed to common things we can agree upon.

Such as that yeah, A lot of police departments are corrupt, and yes some police can in some cases be too aggressive and escalate things. But with so many people and so many interactions, could you even stop that from happening and would it be worth it to attempt it? Maybe in trying to eliminate the rare case where it happens, you de-fang the police so much that they are far more ineffective against crime.

The point is just that, I will never get on board to stop defending the police so long as the narrative is framed as "white supremacist oppressor vs innocent oppressed minorities". It's cartoonish, simplistic, and most all not true. So what they what they seem to want to accomplish would probably have an easier time getting done if they didn't separate themselves from the rest of America and make it about something racists are doing to their community.
