I've never understood why anyone under any circumstance thinks it's okay to resist or refuse police commands. The police are bigger and badder than you and even when they do wrong, if you try to resist them you're going to regret it.

Right or wrong the cop is entitled to detain you. The place to argue whether or not he's right is in court.

Now if the cop is dirty and going to harm you, that's a little different. But that's exceedingly rare.

The place to argue whether or not he's right is in court.

This is also why, if you do get arrested, DON'T SAY ANYTHING. The time to tell your side of the story is in court with a lawyer, not to a policeman who's already decided he's arresting you. Anything you can say, even if's true and seems harmless, can be twisted and used against you.

Police are legally entitled to lie to you, even when it's a crime for you to lie to them.
