Yeah no shit. An electric car doesn't produce its own energy. It require a ridiculously inefficient power grid, which in turn require fuel production. For every step of separation from the source of the energy you will lose efficiency, that's just how thermodynamics works.

They are NOT "electric" powered. They are mostly "COAL" powered. only roughly 10% of any electricity int he US is made from anything other than coal.
