The mic probably auto adjusts to ambient levels. A sudden single gun shot report would be so loud it would cause the levels to clip and end up just being a silent spot.
Not saying that is what happened authoritatively, but similar happens in other auto leveling mic devices.
that is understandable, but it still doesn't explain why there is no muzzle flash. at the 58 second mark when the gun is pointed at him, it doesn't even look like it goes off. there is no action.
