Serious question: Does America really care about the VP? (I'm not sure about this, I'm Canadian.) Like they say, oh that's a good running mate, but once the president is in office, the VP doesn't really do much? I know they made fun of Quayle, Al Gore didn't come into his own until after the Clinton administration was over, that sort of thing. Is it really a big deal there who the VP is?

The position of VP traditional handles foreign relations and international trade.
