A lot of people think it's the "scientific method". It's not. Science, actual science really doesn't know as much as people think. It is not that different to maths where you need proofs. The whole point of science is an approach to knowledge of trusting as little as possible. The whole philosophy of science is a major form of skepticism. Science really is as it's actually intended distrust.

When people say they trust the science what they mean is literally that they don't know the science. If you knew it you wouldn't have to trust it.
