Clothing isn't too bad, and even if you can't find something American-Made, you can find something that is made places other than China.

There's some things that are surprisingly easy to find American-Made items, such as dishware. Fiesta, Corning, Emerson creek, there's a ton. (Though...might want to be careful with Lenox these days. A lot of their newer stuff is Chinese made.)

The really hard one is Electronics.

Well, this is where things get weird.

There's plenty of American-made components. Processors, RAM, etc. Heck, Corning makes the glass on a lot of phone screens. There's an Intel factory a block from my house and AMD manufactures a lot of processors stateside.

Problem is...who solders all the motherboards together? Where are most power supplies assembled? Monitors? What about surge protectors, case fans, heat sinks...okay, you get the idea.

I suppose the processors, RAM, and hard drives could be argued to be the "important parts", sure. But what about that Xbox your kid is asking for for Christmas? Yup. China. Every game console is made in China. Sure, the software is usually made elsewhere. But that's not really manufacturing, is it?

How about a TV? The good ones are made in Korea. Everything else? China. How about a Fire Stick or a Blu-Ray player? Yeah, you know where that's going.

Don't get me started on smartphones. Just to get away from Chinese made stuff, you have to buy absolute top of the line Samsung or Asus devices. All the more fairly priced budget devices? Do you even have to ask? LOL

I'm not saying it's impossible, but for some items/components, it's hard to get away from the Chinese stuff. Until then, sure, get the kid the Xbox, but teach him to build his own machine too.
