He was more of a marksman. He used a Mosin rifle, the same stuff the Soviets used. He had excellent knowledge of the area. Mostly hunted in the forest. For commies. The guy is a legend.

How do contrast Marksman vs. Sniper?

In modern times, a marksman moves with the squad, snipers are a team themselves. Back then I'd say it was just a matter of range. In a forest, you don't need scopes, you need patience steady hand and ammo.

From what I know.. he did 'hunt' commies mostly by himself or a small team - all hit and run. He was so close many times he could hear them talking.

He had 200 kills with a SMG, he was pretty close.
