Some of my first big red pills during this new information age was seeing that conflict play out.

Reddit was doing their usual faggotry, getting all excited about "the protests on Maidan!"

Fucking scumbag McCain was there, in Ukraine, telling the people to overthrow their government.

It's on video.

Imagine Putin showing up to a deep blue city, like Chicago and telling a crazed crowd of BLM rioters that "Russia is with you!"

That's what this is.

And the US media was just like "Yeah, theres big protests in Ukraine, they hate the government! Russia is sending in the military to Crimea"

They just flat out lied.

Ukraine had an agreement for Russia to use Crimea as a military base. They always had troops there.

It was so crazy just seeing the blatant lies, and the media spin, and the idiotic crowds online cheering it on.

Of course, that is all very familiar now, but it was shocking to me at the time.

I'm not Russian, or Ukrainian, have never visited either place or have any interest there. I was just in awe at the propaganda and deceit around the whole thing.

That shit was wild for sure. McCain there in the ground calling for overthrow of their govt blew my mind, as the media pretended like it was normal and we're the good guys lmao

This. I'm over 60, and, when I was growing up, you could not find ANYBODY that hated the USSR/Russia more than me. (cf. General Turgidson from Dr. Strangelove.) Now, I realize that most of the Cold War shit was just that: shit. Military industrial complex, and all that. Of course, there were some legitimate crises, prompted by the aforementioned.

Now, I realize that they could be good allies, given half a chance. Of course, Putin is mostly working for his nation; if he didn't, he'd deserve to be hanged.
