I sometimes ask myself which is worse, if there is some vast conspiracy, or even worse, there is no conspiracy, everyone is an idiot, no one is driving the ship and we're just on board for the ride. Douglas Adams wrote a book about that, it was pretty good, they made a couple film adaptions, they were not as good.
This is one of my favorite 'fun' conspiracy theories. It's the 'no one's home' conspiracy. Basically, anyone who's worked for a large corporation knows how absolutely slow-moving it is, how departments and divisions are terrible at communicating with each other, and development of everything is so slow because of all the red tape - one hand doesn't know what the other is doing - and this is all from a business who's entire livelihood, and is incentivized on running streamline operations and selling for profit.
In the same way, there is no Illuminati or other big scary groups, Our government is just so big and bloated, that no one really knows whats going on in the government and its just ran by idiots who don't know what any other branch, department, division, or person is really doing.
Obviously, I don't believe that - but I do think its a fun one lol.

A politician is good at what he does. He would rather appear incompetent or stupid than have his true motives revealed.
