This is generalized powerlessness. And it isn't imaginary. A young woman whom nobody is protecting, nobody is married to, who has no present father, who has no brothers, has a lot of VERY GOOD REASONS to be afraid.
Add to that an ideology that DENIES HER FEELINGS and says she should be a big, strong woman who doesn't need a protector, and she has two problems instead of one. Her fear, and her self-critical sense she should not have her fear.
This would make anybody insane.
Only white women are made to deny the obvious. The others are allowed to be scared.
Non-whites get to complain. White women are told they can't complain.
And their mother has a new man, not their father, and after a few drinks he may shoot her an eyeball. Now she has no mother, either. She has nobody.
She's not crazy, she's under attack, but unlike in war, she has been issued no rifle.
We are all products of our parents and grandparents. Why are white women made except from responsibility when men are expected to recognize their actions and change them for the better?

No woman can ever be criticized for anything at all whatsoever now. That was too tempting to refuse. It is NATURAL for a woman to seek petting and praise. The reverse is true too. Criticism is like acid on the face for a woman, much more than for a man.
Lack of acceptance makes man a loner, but he can survive. Lack of acceptance is a death sentence for a woman.
Most women who work, work around ... mostly other women. Most workplaces are unbearable if she is hated by the other women for ... being too traditional.
Your point is well taken, but it is a circular problem: women can't go back to tradition, until men defend them from the harsh consequences that will rain on their heads as punishment for going back. Particularly from other women. Including family and friends, and intimate friends.
Men can't protect women, UNTIL WOMEN LET THEM. And the women are too brainwashed to let them. Too ill. Mentally ill. Fifty percent are literally, diagnosed, as mentally ill, says the linked article.
And men don't want to protect mentally ill women.
This is a cycle pf crazy. Maybe a way out can be found.

Find a woman who is so miserable at work, and so fed up with social scenes, that she is ready to hide behind a man, and defend and value that arrangement.
A better adjusted girl with friends will cave when her women friends and relatives say, 'oh he's not so great.' Which nature makes them say. That is how women compete reproductively.
It's a jungle out there.
Maybe the lonely girls are good material.
But don't help her spruce up, lose weight, bleach her hair. That is how to lose her.
