North Carolina to this day has a requirement to ask Daddy Sheriff permission to buy a pistol. This law is still in effect to this day. It is clearly documented as a means to keep blacks from easily acquiring them.

It's most definitely enforced.
No shop will sell you a pistol without a pistol purchase permit. You go online, fill out a form, pay $20 per permit, and to set an appointment, then go to the sherrif's dpt, get fingerprinted, and just like that, you can buy a pistol.
The workaround is getting CCW permit, another unconstitutional requirement, but at least it entitles the holder to unlimited pistol purchases.
Funny that a free voter ID "suppresses" minority votes, but a lengthy application process (weeks at least) with required fee, a required trip downtown to the sheriff's office during working hours is perfectly OK, for the exercise of a God-given right that the Constitutions says the Govt shall not infringe.🤡
