They've been doing this for a long time. They did it to me 10 years ago and I haven't been on the platform since. Before they locked my account, they had just started the tagging system and it was creepy as hell seeing people just tag you in pics you didn't even know they took of you literally everywhere you went: gym, dining hall, on the way to take a shower in the dorms. Kind of how apple tags your face in everything automatically now. They clearly knew who I was, where I was, almost everyone I talked to, etc. But they still wanted my passport or drivers license. Just ... creepy people working at FB.
Nah, they already have everything they need. This is them pretending to crack down on the bots they run all over their site.
