I have come to the conclusion that our problem in 2021 is that we have too much.I was reading this passage in the Bible the other day about the man who feasts every day, rather than just on special days.Thats us btw. We feast everyday. And I don't just mean food. And I live in Sub Saharan Africa btw.I work with people who live in shacks - but they still have tvs and smart phones and eat well.
Agree, too much consumption, too many ambitions, we need to go back to simplicity. Live a frugal life, the less we have, the less slaves we are of things, the less the government can tax us.
Yes.You know what I am trying to change as well - the amount of time I spend on being entertained.I read lots of history - fiction and non - and our ancestors were too busy trying to eek out an existence to have much time for sitting around being amused. And they actually participated in their entertainment.Played an instrument or something. How much healthier and richer I would be if I spent more time improving my own life than making Hollywood rich. And just think how rich and powerful we made these useless people.I grew up in Apartheid South Africa.Back then nothing was open on a religious holiday.Only churches and a few petrol stations.TV was literally religious programs, classical music and documentaries during these holidays.Of course as a kid you find it heavy and boring. As an adult I would give a great deal to experience that peace and solemnity again.
Small world, I grew up in Argentina, European ancestors, simple life, nothing fancy. Cape Town has same altitude as Buenos Aires, right? Back to the point, nowadays, even the poorest people knows what Louis Vuitton is or what a Maserati is. And most people want them like there is an obligation to have those brands. I'm happy with books, some music and sit behind the house to watch nature. I get involved in technology and media these last months because I'm afraid we are losing this glorious country on leftists hands. I hope I'm wrong. I'm trying to stay informed and spread the truth, but sometimes I'm Nat the point to give up and go back to the simple life and throw the stupid phone on the river.
