No, I've never had a dog. I do have a lot of respect for them though, and I know they have personalities and likely emotions. But they're still not on the same level as humans and I think I'm irked by the diction because it sounds like you're talking about humans. Dogs are closer to being humans than communists are, so I'll give you that.
I honestly plan to get a dog, as I view them as essential to a good home-defense system (and tbh I enjoy the company of dogs much more than the company of most humans). An armory does no good if you get taken out in your sleep. But unfortunately, it's not possible for me to get a dog for at least another few months.

Get a dog man. On top of that, if shit goes sideways a pup is better at your side for self-defense then you'd expect.
