I would have shot Ashli Babbit, too. It was that officer's responsibility to protect members of congress and the vice president, and he made the correct decision.
Babbit was breaking through the window of a barricaded door and there was an angry crowd behind her that would have followed. I am shocked and disappointed that someone who served and swore an oath to this country made such poor decisions.
Just because someone appears to be on our side politically doesn't mean we should support them blindly. Anyway, that's how I feel. Downvote me all you want.
The fact of the matter is this. She, they, whoever, at that point in time and at that location at the capital we’re breaking in and entering. Yes she did not have a weapon, but with the chaos going on who could’ve known. If someone chooses to break the law, there are consequences for that. I don’t care if you’re white black purple green blue. There are consequences for her actions.
Do I think she should’ve been shot, no. But I also think that the officers should be charged, if any other officers going to be charge for shoot somebody. But really people, should officers be charged for doing their job? Isn’t that what the problem is right now everywhere?
Also, if people are out peacefully protesting, and/or rioting - and there is an unlawful assembly declared by the police, then that’s when it’s time to leave. Anything that happens to anybody after that is on them.
95% of the people that were at the capital that day didn’t even know it was happening inside at that point in time. So I’m not saying that being there was a bad thing, because I was one of them. I was there. I was outside on the top level and I didn’t even know there was a shooting inside until somebody ran by and said something about it. EVEN then I thought it was just somebody lying to get people to start to leave.
Later that night a curfew was set. For 6 PM. I was in my hotel room by 5:45 PM - because I didn’t want to go to jail that night. That was my choice, so I didn’t have consequences.
On a sidenote, personally I think the whole thing with stage and it was a big Psy Op. I did research on Ashley BABBIT and she has three last name. And some other weird stuff. I have background check software. I’m just saying I agree with OP!
