Russia invading Ukraine is not exactly good for their own people. Unless you mean "their own people" are the same goon oligarchs like Hunter Biden and other prominent Americans grafting money from the Ukraine government. Of course the Russians want the graft money from Kiev, and maybe have a compromise with Biden/Hunter to share the steal.
A big chunk of Eastern Ukraine are ethnic Russians. That's in play as well.
Don't forget, the Ukrainian regime that Obama's State Department installed after the coup were actual fascists and they did engage in war against ethnic Russians.
Imagine if Mexico was actually strong and was threatening to invade the lower US, because many people there are ethnically Mexican. You wouldn’t be so praising of them then.
Putin and the Russians that immigrate into other post soviet countries but hold no allegiance towards that country. It’s exactly the same as foreigners coming into the US and not wanting to assimilate, not even wanting to learn the language, sending money back to their home countries, and always voting tribally / with their home country’s interests.
Historically there's only Russians there because Ukraine was subjugated by Russia for hundreds of years. At this point it would be better to split the country into east and west.
lmao.. like Russians aren't fascists in their own right. Don't try and fool me with the "fascist" argument, when Russians are as fascist as anyone. I agree with you about Obama and Mccain, CIA, EU, etc stealing Ukraine.. but our politicians are all from the same leaf. Greedy pigs.
Also the eastern Ukraine russian theme is tired. That may be the case. But they are not threatened unless they try to seccede or fight in a civil war against their government. hmmm.. let's see.. like the Islamists fighting in Syria against Assad that Russia has been killing for the past 5 years.
I don't think fascism is the right description for what Russia currently is, but I don't have a better term. Sort of like our own current tyrants, they haven't invented the right descriptors for them yet. The old "isms" aren't accurate anymore.
The ethnic strife we're discussing didn't just start recently. A lot of this animosity goes back centuries, something Americans don't understand for the obvious reasons. There's some truth that the Ukraine/Russian issues date back to Khazarian days. Many of the Bolsheviks were not Russian.
I don't know about the ethnic issues between Ukraine/Russia, I guess there are multiple ethnicities in Ukraine/Russia, like ALL countries. But just because you don't agree with your government doesn't mean you can start civil war. What government willfully stand for this? not China, not Syria, not Russia.. except for the controlled Muslim lands where Russia owns the warlords to shut down the extremism..
As far as fascism.. the current Russian program under Putin defines "fascism".
Let's say California breaks away in it's own country. Southern California aligns with Mexico and they start to push anti American laws. Northern California remains mostly American and they don't want to be part of that bullshit anymore. Would you stand idly or would you try to reannex northern California at that point?
They have several pipelines through Ukraine already, which they can, and have, shutdown at will. The Nordstream 2 is the new big gas pipeline, but through northern europe, which US policy makers keep trying to sanction. The question is whether America should fight Russia, or ally with them. They are competing for the same re$ource$, but they are also a likely ally against Chinese imperialism. Also, when is it America's responsibility to save Ukraine?
I have this sinking feeling that Joe Biden is allied with Russia... and China already. He's working towards a strategy to lose convincingly. Russia gets Ukraine, China gets Taiwan, and Joe gets protection for his dirty deals abroad.
Protection for his dirty deeds?... Or Promotion for his compliance? Not like we can ever trust the media, but seems things are firing up on those two fronts.
This is spot on. We should be pulling Russia away from the Chinese and into our alliance. But the Chinese have bought out the Democrat Party which means the Democrats are forced to continue to re-live the old Cold War days.
well, they live in Europe which is the main part of the "North Atlantic" Treaty Org. When was the last Russia was invaded by NATO? When was the last time Russia invaded other countries?
Yeah it's great having countries like Turkey and Estonia and Romania in the "North Atlantic" Treaty org.
When was the last time we toppled other countries' governments, trying to install pro-NATO, anti-Russian regimes? A few years ago, coincidentally just before Russia invaded that same country.

Who am I praising?

Not just that, but Stalin engaged in a ton of ethnic cleansing in the area.
This enmity goes back to the days of the Khazars, whose old territory has a huge overlap with Ukraine and a centuries old grudge.

It's pretty freakin complex.
The best definition would be ultra-nationalist with a strong arm leader.

Yeah and for those of you who don’t get it, California is an analogy for Ukraine, and Mexico is an analogy for a Russia.
I wouldn't have let California break away in the first place. PERIOD.
Many people here are complete morons when it comes to Russia. I doubt they know that 20% of Russia’s population are Muslims.
Not exactly Russian when they are pretty much all from Chechnya, which is basically an entire different country in itself.
I think they want to put a pipeline through it as well. Not to mention a warm-water port.

Joe Biden, check your bank account.

...while ignoring the new Cold War enemy.
Not being surrounded by NATO is good for their own people.

Maybe they don't appreciate the US running a proxy war against them using Ukraine as home base.
