I don't think fascism is the right description for what Russia currently is, but I don't have a better term. Sort of like our own current tyrants, they haven't invented the right descriptors for them yet. The old "isms" aren't accurate anymore.
The ethnic strife we're discussing didn't just start recently. A lot of this animosity goes back centuries, something Americans don't understand for the obvious reasons. There's some truth that the Ukraine/Russian issues date back to Khazarian days. Many of the Bolsheviks were not Russian.
I don't know about the ethnic issues between Ukraine/Russia, I guess there are multiple ethnicities in Ukraine/Russia, like ALL countries. But just because you don't agree with your government doesn't mean you can start civil war. What government willfully stand for this? not China, not Syria, not Russia.. except for the controlled Muslim lands where Russia owns the warlords to shut down the extremism..
As far as fascism.. the current Russian program under Putin defines "fascism".

I get your argument. I'm exhausted and can't articulate my counter, but there's a difference, I think, that makes that label a bit inaccurate. I'm sure we can get into this another time when I can present a better case than "I disagree".
The ethnic/religious issues are important to this story, and it really does go back quite some time. Some interpretations of history suggest this is a story that matters more than we'd think. I'm not an expert on the history of the region, but have read enough to think that it's something to be aware of.

It's pretty freakin complex.

yeah, bottom line. stop invading other countries if you don't want trouble.. Unless you are America, or our ally. Or Russia lol
